Two sloppy second half goals condemned Caersws to defeat against the leagues newcomers , although the Bluebirds had sufficient chances to have taken at least a point in a evenly balanced game.

After 4 minutes Stuart Hayes caused panic in the visitors defence with his left wing cross and a minute later the same player saw his low shot parried by keeper Dave Jones before eventually cleared by a defender. On 8 minutes Caersws midfielder Geraint Lewis thundered a 25 yard free kick narrowly wide with keeper Leon Bimpson a spectator and 2 minutes alter Matt Prosser effort was deflected for a corner. Caersws could well have opened these scoring in the 28 minutes when a Prosser low effect across goal , shaved the post with the keeper beaten and a minute later Gareth Mansell saw a header held by the keeper following a superb overlapping run by Graham Jones down the right.
On 36 minutes Caersws keeper Jones held Osian Jones free kick under pressure and saved well low down from Hayes 25 yard free kick 2 minutes later.
Three minutes following the interval Bala took the lead by a long assisted punt down field by keeper Bimpson was latched upon by Preedator John Toner who cooly lobbed past keeper Jones, On 57 minutes a unmarked Toner should have increased the Bala scorline but headed wide from the left wing cross.
On the hour Waren Duckett was dismissed for a nasty tackle on Mathew Roberts. Caersws then went on to dominate against the ten men but try a they may , they failed to break down a resolute defence. After 70 minutes Prosser headed narrowly over from Lee Jenkins cross and Hugh Clarke saw his header held following Mansell free kick wide on the right.
The introduction of young Jacob Smith added pace to the Caersws attack and in the 78th minute Lewis saw his shot brilliantly pushed over for a corner by Simpson . In the 84th minute Bala had a goal disallowed but a minute later Caersw fate was sealed when keeper Jones dropped a harmless looking free kick from 30 yards to allow ex Bluebird Ross Jefferies to net easily from close range to send lakesides joint lead leaguers with last seasons Champions Rhyl.
