Caersws progressed to the third round of this years welsh cup with a narrow victory.
The predicted difficult encounter turned out to be correct, with the Bluebirds snatching a victory in the final minute. The blustery conditions made good football difficult, although both sides attempted to pass the ball around playing with wind Caersws opened strongly and after 5 minutes had a Melia goal disowned for offside. However 3 minutes later they took the lead when Jenkins found the returning Dave Hughes , who found the net with a low strike from the edge of the box. On the half hour Hughes saw his effort saved by Jamie Hulse in the Ruthin goal.
After 32 minutes been Collins saw his 25 yard free kick blocked by Caersws defender and six minutes later Mathew prossse shot over for the Bluebirds from 25 yards .Ten minutes alter before the interval Sion Roberts saw his shot comfortably held by Dave Jones in the Caersws goal.
After 42 minuets Caersws had a scare when a clearance by Jones hit a home forward which caused panic in then defence , the ball being eventually cleared by Mathew Holt,.
,brCaersws should have increased their lead after 59 minuets but shot wide when well paced following a right wing cross. After 61 minutes ,Hughes saw an effort go wide following a Melai Cross .Ruthin levelled after 68 minutes with a superb goal . A mid fielder threaded superb ball through to Mike Gerard who crossed superbly to Ruthin Captain Michel Robinson who netted with a near post volley giving keeper Jones his chance 5 minutes before the Bluebirds got the vital goal when Lee Jenkins found Hughes who crossed from Melia to score with a diving header at the near post. To the relief of the visiting supporters. Caersws now have a home fixture against Coed Porth on Saturday October 31st
